The Daily Mississippian is the student newspaper of the University of Mississippi. It is operated as an independent student-run newspaper, and it is the only college newspaper in Mississippi that is published five times a week. With a circulation of 15,000, it is one of the larger college newspapers in the country. It is also the only college newspaper in Mississippi to be a full member of the state press association, and it competes in the Mississippi Press Association's Better Newspaper Contest against similar-sized professional daily newspapers.

Students edit, layout and design the entire paper.

The DM is a part of the S. Gale Denley Student Media Center in the University of Mississippi's Division of Student Life. Ralph Braseth, assistant professor of journalism, directs the S. Gale Denley Student Media Center. The editorial staff consists of approximately 15 students, along with a staff of 15-20 writers and 5 photographers, though these numbers vary from year to year and semester to semester. There is also an entire department devoted entirely to advertising sales and production.

The staff consists of reports, editors and photographers.

The DM web site, The DM Online, is maintained as a part of the paper, yet incorporates all areas of the S. Gale Denley Student Media Center. TheDMonline.com is the most visited web site associated with the University of Mississippi. It began offering daily updates in 1996.
