The Mechanics Bank on University Avenue was robbed Tuesday morning.
At 11:37 a.m. the Oxford Police Department received a report that the bank was being robbed.
A police report states that bank officials told officers that a black male, wearing a ski mask robbed the bank at gun point.
He then fled on foot behind the bank area and left the scene in a vehicle described as a light tan or yellow older model vehicle, possibly a GM or Ford.
According to the report officers found a gun, money and other evidence that was covered in red paint from the “dye pack” that discharged near where the suspect vehicle was parked.
Oxford Police Chief Mike Martin was unable to comment any further on the robbery.
He did encourage anyone with any information leading to the suspect to call the Oxford Police Department.
More details will be revealed as they are released.
