Advice guides Reese to Title

A little motherly advice prompted junior Brittney Reese to pursue a track and field career at Ole Miss. That advice paid off on March 15 during the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., when Reese became the first female to win a national championship at Ole Miss in track and field when she captured the title in the long jump.

SEC losing streak continues

In the 1980's Whitey Herzog and the St. Louis Cardinals put "small ball" on the map; bunting, stealing bases and advancing runners with sacrifice flies. Wednesday, 15th ranked Georgia was all about the small ball as they swept Ole Miss (15-17, 0-10 SEC) in their double-header 4-2 and 3-0.

Nutt looking to change mindset

It has not taken newly hired Ole Miss football coach Houston Nutt long to change his mindset from "Pig Sooie" to "Hotty Toddy." Now his next challenge is changing the mindset of his players to a winning one. The Rebels are coming off three consecutive losing seasons under the direction of former head coach Ed Orgeron, most recently a dismal 2007 campaign where the Rebels finished without any wins in the SEC and 3-9 overall.
