First and foremost, we would like to congratulate Sen. Barack Obama on becoming the president-elect and the first black president of the United States of America. Whether you voted for Sen. John McCain or Obama, your vote was part of history. Americans have cast their ballots and their voices have been heard.
Now it is time for the next president to fix the problems that lie ahead of him. Our nation has come a long way, and we look forward to what Obama has in store for our country.
Much work needs to be done within Obama’s first few months in office, and it is imperative that these problems be solved as quickly as possible. Our economy is in a world of trouble right now. We hope that within Obama’s first months as president, he can once again restore our faith in the stock market and Wall Street.
Education is also a key issue that needs to be at the top of the list. Education is the backbone of a successful country, and issues with such programs as No Child Left Behind need to be resolved.
We also can’t forget about our soldiers in Iraq. The War on Terror has been a major topic in this election. We hope Obama will make the right choice in bringing our soldiers home not only safe but also victorious.
The next four years will be crucial in determining the nature of our relationship with the emerging world power of China.
It’s no secret that the fate of Social Security is at large, and this could be detrimental for our generation.
Although it is not feasible for Obama to solve all of these problems within his first months in office, we hope these will be some of the key issues upon which he focuses his presidency. We hope the next four years will indeed bring change as promised – change for the better.
Again, congratulations, President Elect Obama. We’ll see you Jan. 20.
