The Memphis Commercial Appeal's Kyle Veazey was in Jonesboro, Ark. when Arkansas State defeated Louisiana-Lafayette for the de facto Sun Belt Championship. He shares his thoughts on what he saw from Freeze, the team, the program and the fan base.

What I remember most about that afternoon isn't so much about the kind of football they played as it was the kind of excitement the community had about the team. The radio guy was hyping it up big-time driving in. Said it was the biggest game there in 25 years. A hotel by the bypass had "FEEL THE FREEZE" painted on the window. That sort of stuff.

Several weeks after the announcement that the Kappa Sig fraternity had been indefinitely suspended pending an investigation, the University of Mississippi judicial council has made a decision on their fate.

The decision will be made public tomorrow, because the council must first meet in the Dean of Students office to confirm their decision, then inform the fraternity before going public.

To the Editor:

In regards to Darrin Cline’s column, “The erosion of modern English,” I would have to disagree with his view.

Mike Leach talks his Air Raid offense and his possible interest in the Ole Miss head coaching position. CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman and ESPN's Edward Ashoff look at the fit of Leach at Oxford and other possible alternatives for both Leach and Ole Miss. Also, expect a graphic of Leach's offensive success from Kentucky and Oklahoma, where he was offensive coordinator, to his 10-year tenure at Texas Tech.

From the Office of the Chancellor:

Dear Ole Miss Family,

September 26, 2011

As we close in on the midway point of another semester there a quite a few hot topics that students are talking about around the campus. Parking, our football team, free scantrons, Amendment 26 and when the exact date that it will become fashionable again to wear leggings, XXXXL sweatshirts and rain boots. I'm thinking mid-October.

That said, I am going to take a different route, and talk about an issue that has been untouched as of yet by the campus water-cooler. Intramurals. I'm sticking to the important issues see?

The University of Mississippi and Oxford and Lafayette County have been struggling with the details of how to expand the John Leslie Tennis Facility for over a year now.
Earlier this week, the board of aldermen announced that each side has come to an agreement.
The facility currently holds eight courts. However, park officials began looking for an expansion to 20 courts, viewing deck and clubhouse back in September 2010. The project would have cost $3 million, according to Oxford Park Commission director Rob Boyd.
While the city and Ole Miss have been on board for several months, the county board of supervisors has held up the project for financial reasons.
The three finally agreed on a scaled-down project, which elements the deck and clubhouse, for $550,000 coming from Ole Miss, Oxford and Lafayette County.
The plan now calls for 12 new courts and a building to house bathrooms, storage and a small meeting room for teams.
The $1.65 million for expansion of the tennis courts will also be used to help renovate the two city-owned baseball fields, with any funds left over going toward construction of new baseball fields.

Competitive Chef Andrew Hauge prepares a tasty entree. Delicately blackened tilapia is pan seared while a side of garlic roasted green beans sautees in a seperate pan. The dish can be garnished by appling a hint of paprika and a dash parsley upon completion. Enjoy!

The bars, which weigh in at 100 ounces each according to an Associated Press report, were found in a safety deposit box during the closing of Baptist Memorial Hospital.

Before Christmas, the city released a request for proposal. Five or six bids were placed, but none were high enough, according to Mayor George “Pat” Patterson.

If you use Google or Wikipedia, you may be familiar with something called SOPA. No, it’s not a national debate about Mexican soup. SOPA is legislation intended to censor the Internet, essentially suspending the constitutional rights of American citizens and corporations.

There’s a reason it was initially unknown to the public; when people realize their liberty is being stripped away they stand up for themselves. Without grassroots efforts by citizens and activists, SOPA would have become law. Fortunately, it did not.

College is the time to be curious. We need to take advantage of our time and embark on an adventure before we lose that chance. Traveling and studying abroad — completely immersing yourself in another culture — can impact your life significantly. And if we plan to make a difference in the world as young adults, we need that international experience now more than ever.

Any period of time overseas is worthwhile, and the more time the better because the only way one can really learn about another culture is to live in it.

I took many classes that spring semester, finding my Psychology 201 course most intriguing, but despite being immensely interested in the material, I found myself longing for a better articulation of how psychology could be applied to my everyday life.
