Students complain of problems with major websites such as Facebook, ESPN and Twitter, as well websites used for school, including Blackboard and MySpanishLab.

As the spring semester progresses, many students are forced to consider next year’s living arrangements. Some of these students will find acquiring a room on campus difficult.

The student housing application process for on-campus apartment living opened on Monday, Feb. 21, at 8 a.m. and closed before noon that same day. 

After only a few hours, all the campus-owned apartment spaces had filled up, including Northgate and Campus Walk.

Starting next fall, upperclassmen will be considered second priority when it comes to on-campus housing.

Due to an overabundance of freshman applicants, and the requirement that they live on campus, there is a good chance that there will be no room for anyone else. This is understandable, and leaves no room for debate.

For the 2011-2012 academic year, the Office of Student Housing and Residence Life has informed the Ole Miss sororities that there will no longer be guaranteed housing in Crosby Hall due to an incoming freshman class expected to be larger than the current class.

Traditionally, Crosby Hall houses sophomore sorority members.

It’s easy to notice all the changes around Ole Miss.

There is a new on-field mascot, new buildings, new brand marketing campaigns and new professors and staff. The change that is the most exciting and most frightening around campus, however, is probably the recent growth in the student population.

As the Daily Mississippian reported last semester, this year’s freshman class is the largest in the University’s history, nearly 20 percent larger than the class of 2013.

Students who opt to live on campus can choose between standard residence halls, residential colleges, on-campus apartments.

Co-ed living will no longer be permitted at the Campus Walk apartment complex starting in August.

Co-ed living will no longer be permitted at the Campus Walk apartment complex starting in August.

 

The University of Mississippi recently purchased the complex as another option for student housing.

 

Campus Walk will operate under the same rules as the Northgate on-campus complex, meaning male and female students cannot live in the same apartment.
