If the proponents of the Green Fund have their way, tuition costs will increase nearly $400,000 per year (16,000 students X $12 X 2 semesters)… but they promise that the Green Fund will save us money? Something doesn’t smell right here.

The University of Mississippi Athletics Department has been hitting the streets since it unveiled its Forward Together campaign on Aug. 10.

 

The University of Mississippi Athletics Department has been hitting the streets since it unveiled its Forward Together campaign on Aug. 10.

In just under two months, the group has reached a miniature milestone, topping $25 million in donations.

The Forward Together capital campaign is a $150 million fundraising effort to build a new basketball arena and expand the football stadium. 

The construction of the Forward Together project will be completed over a two-phase plan for both venues.

This weekend the Ole Miss volleyball team continues its season-opening road trip and travels to Louisville for its second tournament of the year, the Crowne Plaza Cardinal Classic. 

The Rebels (0-2) are coming off a tough weekend at the Burnt Orange Classic in Austin, Texas, where they faced three top-notch teams, including the Israeli National team in an exhibition.

Let’s say that I want information that no one else has. I have to say that deleting the voice mails of a missing teenage girl to make room for more would probably not be my highest priority.

But in the end against Friday’s opponent, No. 1 Florida, they proved why they’re the top team in the country as well as why they’ve won 19 straight Southeastern Conference regular season matches.

The No. 1 Gators (16-1, 5-0 SEC) defeated No. 29 Ole Miss (8-6, 1-4 SEC) 7-0 in a match with a score that doesn’t indicate how close it truly was.

Accounting major Jessie Austin is an accomplished person.

The 21-year-old senior is the director of student involvement in the Associated Student Body, a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and president of the Rebels for United Way organization.

He was also recently inducted into the Hall of Fame.

“It’s still kind of surreal, even though it is a couple of days after the fact,” Austin said.

Co-owner Patty Lewis, along with her partners Louis Brandt and George Falls, said they decided the time was right to sell the centrally located piece of property on the Square.

“It was just time,” Lewis said. “We aren’t getting any younger, and none of us have children in the industry to pass it on to.”

If there is one word that could sum up writer and poet Louis E. Bourgeois it would be “unconventional.”

Starting out as a 21-year-old business major at Louisiana State University, Bourgeois changed his major to English after reading William Faulkner’s “The Sound and the Fury.” Nineteen years later, he has made a career out of writing. However, he does not care to follow the rules of commercial publication.
