The New York Times profiled the university and Oxford in its weekend Travel section, calling it "one of the South's artsiest and most literate college towns, a pint-size and much more navigable Austin, Tex."

On Monday, in a unanimous 9-0 decision, the Supreme Court held that police must obtain a warrant before using a global positioning system to track suspects.

Justice Samuel Alito focused on the physical nature of attaching a GPS device to a suspect’s vehicle.

Frankly, this is not a surprising outcome. One can easily imagine a variety of ways in which police officers maneuver themselves in order to attach these devices to cars.

Many college students have gone through money problems during his or her college career.

With the new Campus Special mobile app, students will have their own personal coupon book in the palm of their hands.

The Campus Special mobile app was launched to 150 universities nationwide in August for students to download on their iPhones or Androids for free. The app combines the $100 coupon book that is available at the beginning of every semester for Ole Miss students with online food ordering from favorite local spots.

For University of Mississippi students who frequent the Oxford University Transit buses, a new iPhone app could mean less frustration and more progress at bus stops.

Busvetica is an application for mobile Apple products that locates the nearest bus stop and displays the next bus arrival time.

The Apple application, which works with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, was developed by Ian Meyer and his company Adelie Software. He said the idea for the app came to him upon observing confusing bus arrival times in his town of Chapel Hill, N.C.

After seven years of battling pancreatic cancer, Steve Jobs has died at age 56, leaving behind a legacy of technological innovation and imagination for generations to come.
Fans and followers are mourning the passing of the Apple visionary and founder of one of the most successful businesses in the world with memorials and testimonies, often created with devices that Jobs invented.
Personally, my mother has often mocked that we should have bought stock in Apple long ago, with the numerous iPods, iBooks, iPhones and so on that have wandered through our house.

The women emerge from the mist, intertwined with flowers, and glide through the wind.
These enchanting women are the subjects of the newest paintings from Oxford-based figurative artist Stan O’Dell.
In his show Les Femmes Enchanteur, opening Oct. 4 at Southside Gallery in Oxford, O’Dell celebrates the beauty, grace and mystery of women.

As I was reading The Washington Post headlines early Saturday morning, my gaze came across something that stopped it mid-page: ‘Philippines officials Photoshop themselves into typhoon cleanup photo.’ Now at 5 a.m. I admit, I’m not at my absolute best, but took it for granted that I’m still capable of literacy.

Of all the forms of communication on this campus, email is at the top of the list.

Tasks including student to teacher communication and UM Today is communicated through the privately-run Ole Miss webmail system.

Ever since our generation got its hands on the computer, Google was the search engine god of the Internet. It answers all our questions from health diagnostics to directions to our favorite restaurants.

Since everyone thinks so highly of it, we expect a genius team to come up with anything and be successful at it.

The 21st century is clearly the technology era.

The 21st century is clearly the technology era.

We are constantly inventing new products that change the way we live. If we are not actually inventing new products, we are engineering older products to make them bigger and better.

Naturally, living in a very progressive time, we have a desire to look directly at what could be, not what has been. Arguably since the New Deal of Franklin Roosevelt, we Americans have become accustomed to thinking in this manner.

While it might not seem logical, this is steadily becoming a problem.

I get the majority of my news (more than 80 percent) from Internet sources.

I get the majority of my news (more than 80 percent) from Internet sources.

I cannot remember the last time I watched the news on TV, and I rarely read the newspaper anymore. The only “traditional” source of news I still use is the radio, but only because of my commute to campus in the morning.

Whereas our parents and grandparents most likely get their news from traditional sources, the rise of Internet news has given our generation quick, free access to numerous information outlets.

University of Mississippi officials are working to ensure that the quality of on-campus Internet access keeps up with increases in enrollment and use of wireless devices.

Periods of slow Internet service are frustrating for some students who live on campus.

Stewart Fakess, an Ole Miss freshman from Orlando, said he believes the service should be better because of his out-of-state tuition.

“I pay so much already because I’m out of state — they better give me some good Internet,” Fakess said.

Remember when you bought that laptop and the perky guy at Best Buy said, “Here’s six months of antivirus for free, and then after that, you will need...” and then you nodded off?

Turns out what he was saying was actually important.

This week, I will walk you through what you need to know to make sure your PC and Mac (yes, you guys are susceptible to issues, too) are not just protected but also running fast.

First things first.

After Oxford’s submission for Google Fiber national broadband Internet in 2010, some concern has surfaced because a decision has not yet been made.

Google was originally set to make an announcement in late 2010 as to which city or town would win the broadband Internet.

Stewart Rutledge volunteered to help Oxford receive the Internet service and has been the leader of Oxford’s participation in the project.

He started off his academic career as a ninth grade English teacher in Florida. After two years, he changed his focus to health and fitness education and research.

In 1990, Owens decided it was time to move into the field of research. Since then, he has completed a large number of studies regarding the lifestyle and fitness of Americans.

When you hear the word “app” as it relates to cell phones, you normally first think of Apple’s App Store.

Apple has created an extremely successful, if not the most successful, application marketplace to date.

While many competitors have tried to emulate Apple in this regard, they fall short of the sheer number of applications available and the intuitiveness of Apple’s App Store.

When I sat down to make a decision about running for ASB President, I first consulted my faith. This is a huge responsibility to undertake, but as I thought about why I wanted to be ASB President and what I offered as a Rebel, and as a candidate, I knew that it was a position I could hold with a maximum amount of integrity and passion.

The iPhone is no longer exclusive to AT&T.

The iPhone is no longer exclusive to AT&T.

Starting Feb. 10, those with Verizon as their service provider will have the option to purchase an iPhone. This is a large step for Apple and the mobile phone community.

For those who have complained (myself included) of poor AT&T service, we now have some form of respite. Already AT&T is jockeying to steal and/or keep iPhone customers.
