Three Blind Wines is a wine tasting with a different spin: when the participants actually taste the wine, they won’t know which wine bottle they are drinking from.
At the event, groups will bring three bottles of wine, of which one bottle will be set aside as part of the grand prize.
The other two bottles will have their labels covered and used in the tasting.
The groups will then sample each other’s wine and vote on the best bottle.

Currence’s recipe has become a front-runner for the University of Mississippi in the tailgating cookoff contest against the other 11 SEC schools.

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) has filed a criminal complaint with the Mississippi Attorney General’s office regarding the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s (UMMC) teaching with live pigs in classroom exercises.

To be allowed to perform laboratory exercises on live animals, the Animal Welfare Act requires that schools thoroughly investigate alternative methods and document why these alternatives are not used.

The Subway in the Student Union is the top grossing Subway in the district region — an area that includes 172 stores in North Mississippi, West Tennessee and parts of Arkansas.

The Subway in the Student Union is the top grossing Subway in the district region — an area that includes 172 stores in North Mississippi, West Tennessee and parts of Arkansas.

This location opened at the beginning of the fall semester and has an average of 6,500 customers a week, said Jonathan Parker, resident district manager. Of all the stores in the country, this Subway is now the 12th highest-grossing Subway.

There are 24,080 Subway locations in the U.S.

The restaurant offers more than just tacos by providing customers different and healthy food options. 

The South Depot Taco Shop is focused on providing quality food at reasonable prices, Trey Horne, co-owner of the restaurant, said.

The taco shop is based on a “build-your-own tacos and burritos” concept, but also offers quesadillas, salads and more.

The Farmers’ Market, a greengrocer located on North Lamar, is a one-stop shop for local produce, obscure spices, international fare and artisan meats and cheeses.

The Farmers’ Market has bushel-loads of character, from the handwoven shopping baskets to the handwritten labels describing which town, state or country the produce is from.

Dunphy said he believes that businesses should be about purpose and people.

He said Chick-fil-A in particular wants to know its customer base.   

“Leadership is about serving, not being served,” Dunphy said.

All of this will change in March when B.T.C. Old-Fashioned Grocery and Yokna Bottoms Farm begins accepting orders and delivering to the citizens of Oxford.

B.T.C. Old-Fashioned Grocery is a rustic store located in Water Valley.

Bop’s Frozen Custard opened its first location in Oxford, and shares a building with Honest Abe’s Donuts. Bop’s has twelve other locations in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Owner Lynn Inman said he learned of Bop’s when he attended a car show in Jackson. A car was sponsored by the company, and Inman said he sought to learn more about the company.

Recently an incredible number of students have started volunteering for Feed the Hunger.

Recently an incredible number of students have started volunteering for Feed the Hunger. 

Feed the Hunger is a children’s outreach program that feeds starving children in places like Africa, Haiti and Bangladesh. 

The organization holds Pack-A-Thon events throughout the country, bringing people together to pack food. 

Ole Miss has the exciting distinction of being the first ever college campus to host a Pack-A-Thon.

Firehouse Subs is opening its very first location in Oxford.

Chris Stephenson, franchisee and general manager of the Oxford branch, said the restaurant is scheduled to have a soft opening Feb. 21.

An Ole Miss graduate, Stephenson said the first time he ate Firehouse Subs, he knew there was no other sandwich for him. He jumped at the opportunity to open a location in the town of his alma mater.

Chili had three purposes Saturday: raise money, promote awareness and provide a good meal for Oxford’s homeless population.

The University of Mississippi Homeless Outreach program kicked off its first annual Chili Bowl for the Soul on Saturday, which they hope will become an annual event.

Twenty-four teams entered their chili for the cook-off, and hundreds of hungry participants came ready to eat chili and support Oxford’s homeless population.

If you’re going to be charged with a felony because it was your third shoplifting offense and then have to post a $2,500 bond, you certainly don’t want to be sent up the river for anything less than a Vienna sausage.

Think of the embarrassment you might have faced had your pockets been stuffed with Spam or something.

The UM Homeless Outreach will host a chili cookoff to increase awareness about Oxford’s overlooked homeless population.

Chili Bowl for the Soul will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, in the Student Union.

Jean Shaw, a member of the Oxford homeless task force, said approximately 300 Oxford residents are currently homeless. Of that number, at least half are children.

Haley Hill, a UMHO member who is in charge of the cookoff, said there are students at Ole Miss who are homeless.
