Are you from Tennessee? Because you’re the only 10 I see! Going far beyond such a horrible pick-up line, Proud Larry’s presents an amazing band that will literally be the only 10 you see on Sept. 26.

The band is called “10 Out of Tenn” and is made up of 10 separate artists, each with successful careers of their own.

Not long ago, we were all hanging off the edge of adolescence, relentlessly searching everywhere for a way to rebel against parents, authority or whatever else we opposed. One saying no doubt heard during our childhood is, “I don’t understand why you listen to that devil music!”

On the morning of June 14, an album dropped that truly deserves the word “sick.” Junior Boys, consisting of Jeremy Greenspan and Matt Didemus, recently released their fourth studio album “It’s All True.” The band must have visited the world of psychedelic beats and sweet vocals to bring us back this musical treat. The album includes nine songs that dare you to dance whenever you hear it, wherever you are.

“You bite my lip, you spike my blood. You make my heart beat faster.” These are a sample of the lyrics from “Faster,” the opening track on Matt Nathanson’s new album “Modern Love.”

The world falls silent when a rock star enters a room. A raspy, sultry voice that can fill auditoriums turns crowds into chaos.

Men want to be one. Women want to sleep with one. A rock star never goes unnoticed.

But few musicians ever achieve actual rock star status. Fortunately for Oxford, Greg Dulli is there.

Dulli, the ex-Afghan Whigs frontman, and his band The Twilight Singers, are bringing their dark brooding sound to Proud Larry’s this Wednesday on the first stop of their North America tour.

The mission of the journalism profession is to convey truth, initiate action and provide a voice those not loud enough to be heard.

The mission of the journalism profession is to convey truth, initiate action and provide a voice those not loud enough to be heard.

This noble act would seem skewed in the eyes of celebrities.

To them, the gossip column in the newspaper or broadcast shows like TMZ are places of conviction and torture. On the good side they provide we “normal people” with evidence that celebrities are humans too. Whether it is having a bad hair day or snorting cocaine in a hotel bathroom, all celebrities have been hit with the gossip effect.

Contrary to popular belief, the snowpocalypse of 2011 did not cause school to shut down indefinitely, and we must face the music: spring semester has indeed begun.

1 - Um, You Know, Finals Week: This is how dedicated I am to comedy, readers. I am forgoing the crucial time I need to raise my grades to a non-crying-myself-to-sleep level by the end of this semester, and what am I doing instead? Writing this pinko-Commie, East Coast, granola-crunching, national security threat schlock. If I fail my psych final because of this, I will recommend you all to Obama’s socialist death panels. See if I don’t.

1 - Time Travel: Kanye West’s new album, “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,” arrives in stores Nov. 22. You may be asking, “Why are you doing a Top Ten on it a week before it’s released?” Well, the answer is pretty obvious: You all need to be prepared for its upcoming mind blowing-ness (really though, Thanksgiving break is next week). To get ready, might I suggest tampering with the space-time continuum? C’mon, you need a few extra days or so, anyway. We all know how your grades have been falling harder than Democrat seats in the Senate.

On Oct. 20 singer/songwriter Randy Rogers took the cramped, sole-scuffed stage at Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos, Texas. While the Cleburne native had been performing at owner Kent Finlay’s converted rail-side depot for years, this night was particularly special for him. It marked the local hero’s tenth year as a signed recording artist.

The crowd was restless as the lights went down. Ardent fans screamed, jumped and pushed around. I did not even know what was going on.

Sometimes the stress of exams or the work week can be overwhelming, but a great way to wind down is to catch some good live music.

Sporting a shaved head and a goatee that any old-southern rocker would be jealous of, Charlie Hall has played his own brand of worship music since 1992.

After he first shaped his skills in the realms of rap and country, Hall said he felt a call to worship. He traces the roots back to his involvement with a small church in his hometown.

FRIDAY:

Mutemath

I haven’t personally been able to see the band perform, but I’ve heard a lot of hype about their live show. The buzz on the street is that their live performances are very intense and high energy, which would be a great way to start the weekend and wear yourself completely out so you have no energy to study for those looming finals.
