On certain Saturdays in the fall, football fanatics, diehard Rebels and Ole Miss attendees will flock to the Grove and Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for the Rebels home game.

However, those looking to spend the afternoon relaxing in a quieter, less crowded atmosphere might consider visiting the Oxford Maker’s Market.

 

The Maker’s Market takes place in front of the Lyric Theatre on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

The Attorney General’s Office, with assistance from the Oxford Police Department, were performing undercover operations by checking certain establishments to ensure they were complying to state law concerning alcohol sales to patrons under 21 years old, according to assistant police chief Joey East.

The Powerhouse Community Arts Center is preparing for their 2011 gallery series, which will provide up-and-coming artists of all levels an opportunity to showcase their work.

Instead of allowing the artists to contribute multiple pieces to one show that promotes the artist individually, the Arts Center allows multiple artists in one showing.

The Task Force was created to advise the Board of Alderman on the possibility of allowing Sunday sales and what regulations may be put in place if the Sunday prohibition is repealed.

The University gameday committee has instituted new rules and policies to make tailgating a better experience for all.

 

The University gameday committee has instituted new rules and policies to make tailgating a better experience for all.

 

“The rules are subject to change,” Andy Mullins, Chief of Staff to the Chancellor, said. “If there is violation of this policy, yes, you will see a change. We are doing what it takes to take back control of campus.”

 

Due to the disruption of the academic day, tailgaters will no longer be able to set up tents in the Grove at 6 p.m. on Fridays.
