The Memphis Commercial Appeal's Kyle Veazey was in Jonesboro, Ark. when Arkansas State defeated Louisiana-Lafayette for the de facto Sun Belt Championship. He shares his thoughts on what he saw from Freeze, the team, the program and the fan base.

What I remember most about that afternoon isn't so much about the kind of football they played as it was the kind of excitement the community had about the team. The radio guy was hyping it up big-time driving in. Said it was the biggest game there in 25 years. A hotel by the bypass had "FEEL THE FREEZE" painted on the window. That sort of stuff.

The University of Mississippi and Oxford and Lafayette County have been struggling with the details of how to expand the John Leslie Tennis Facility for over a year now.
Earlier this week, the board of aldermen announced that each side has come to an agreement.
The facility currently holds eight courts. However, park officials began looking for an expansion to 20 courts, viewing deck and clubhouse back in September 2010. The project would have cost $3 million, according to Oxford Park Commission director Rob Boyd.
While the city and Ole Miss have been on board for several months, the county board of supervisors has held up the project for financial reasons.
The three finally agreed on a scaled-down project, which elements the deck and clubhouse, for $550,000 coming from Ole Miss, Oxford and Lafayette County.
The plan now calls for 12 new courts and a building to house bathrooms, storage and a small meeting room for teams.
The $1.65 million for expansion of the tennis courts will also be used to help renovate the two city-owned baseball fields, with any funds left over going toward construction of new baseball fields.

“My daughter’s friends are over, and we just got a new puppy,” he said. “I guess now is as good of time as any to talk.”

Arriveé is a straight shooter. His words come out crisp and clear. He speaks with no accent and fills a conversation on film with all the technical jargon that comes with being in the filmmaking industry for years. One gets the feeling that he was worked for those words.

“Going green” is a trend that is quickly gaining popularity. But what does “going green” mean?

Well, it includes life practices and actions that are sustainable and earth friendly. For example, instead of throwing away that plastic water bottle every day, you buy and reuse a sustainable water bottle.

Like everyone else in the Ole Miss family, I love my university. I love the people, the tradition, the Grove and, yes, even class. I love the town of Oxford and the countryside in which it resides. I love the football games in the fall, the basketball games in the winter, the baseball games in the spring and all of the other sports in between.

I would like to ask all of the Oxford Police Depatment officers to please get on the same page in regard to the Oxford dog leash law.

For the greater majority of the 11 months that I have had my dog Cash, I’ve kept him on a leash in Oxford like the law demands. I have only allowed him off leash after two separate OPD officers gave me their permission to do so as long as I maintained control over him with the assistance of a remote electronic training collar (E-collar).
