While most of the country is panicking over sudden scorching temperatures, these above average temperatures are a yearly occurrance for the residents of Mississippi. In major northern metropolitan areas such as Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and Baltimore, many public schools were forced to close its doors because of the heat.

Those of you familiar with my writing know my affinity for exposing them to “touchy-feely” stories using this platform. Today’s topic concerns the bad sects of the Catholic Church.

I was putting the final touches on my column for next week Sunday night when I heard the news. Osama bin Laden, the man our country has been searching for near on a decade, is dead.

Well, so much for  that column. I saved the document onto the hard drive of my computer, opened a blank page in Word and began writing the column you see before you today.

April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and the University of Mississippi will observe it with the annual Take Back the Night rally.

April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and the University of Mississippi will observe it with the annual Take Back the Night rally.

Take Back the Night is an event that began in the mid-1970s in Philadelphia.

The Ole Miss Violence Prevention Office, along with the University and Oxford police departments, have created their own version of the event on campus.

The Take Back the Night rally for women invites both students and members of the Oxford community to raise awareness about sexual assault violence.

With midterms over, and finals still weeks away, it might seem like a good time to cut out the studying and break out the Frisbees. Unfortunately, everyone who was not under a rock last semester knows that classes are about to buckle down with more tests, essays and assignments than before our booze-soaked spring breaks.

That said, the only way to get through the late night study sessions that are bound to occur is a steady supply of caffeine and great study music.

Arab League boss Moussa to run for Egypt president 

Arab League chief Amr Moussa, a popular career diplomat, said Sunday he plans to run in Egypt’s presidential election expected later this year.

Moussa, a former foreign minister, declared his candidacy a day after a constitutional reform panel appointed by the country’s new military rulers recommended far-reaching reforms that relaxed eligibility rules governing who can run for president.

Johnson, a ball-hawking linebacker for Philadelphia, Miss., made a non-binding verbal commitment to Ole Miss Tuesday afternoon according to The Clarion-Ledger.

The state's top football recruit, Philadelphia's C.J. Johnson made a verbal commitment to Ole Miss Tuesday afternoon according to Rod Walker of The Clarion-Ledger. 

Johnson, who had been committed to Mississippi State for much of the recruiting process, is considered a five-star prospect by Rivals.com and the nation's No. 2 inside linebacker. Scout.com has Johnson as a four-star prospect and the No. 4 middle linebacker in the country.
