University of Mississippi cheerleader Johnny Beasley is scheduled to appear before the Lafayette County Municipal Court on April 20, to face a misdemeanor charge, court officials said.

University of Mississippi cheerleader Johnny Beasley is scheduled to appear before the Lafayette County Municipal Court on April 20, to face a misdemeanor charge, court officials said.

The charge of simple assault was filed against Beasley by former Ole Miss baseball player Taylor Hashman.

This step in the investigation comes after Beasley turned himself over to Oxford police on Friday, April 8, after a warrant was issued for his arrest on Thursday.

This occurs after the Lafayette County grand jury decided not to indict Beasley for assault-related felony charges on February 18, 2011.

The Lafayette County grand jury met Friday, Feb. 18 to determine whether University of Mississippi cheerleader Johnny Beasley would be held criminally liable for an alleged assault on former University of Mississippi baseball player Taylor Hashman that occurred July 31, 2010.

The meeting concluded a series of rendering hearings that began on Wednesday, Feb. 16 in Oxford. According to local law enforcement officials, the results of the hearings will be released to the public in early March.
