Volleyball returns home to face Florida and South Carolina

 

It was once again a tough week for the Ole Miss volleyball team this past week. After losses at Kentucky and Tennessee, the Rebels have fallen to 5-11 overall with a 1-7 Southeastern Conference record.

Despite what might seem to be a misleading record, the Rebels have played each match tight and have also played five of their last six matches away from home.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Kara Morgan put down a career-high 18 kills and was one of three Rebels to tally double-digit kills, but the effort came up just short following a late Lady Vols rally as Ole Miss (5-11, 1-7 SEC) fell to No. 19 Tennessee (15-2, 8-0 SEC) by a score of 3-2 (22-25, 25-17, 25-21, 21-25, 13-15) on Sunday.

Volleyball downs Auburn, Georgia over weekend

The Rebels cruised early, but had to fight back late to defeat Auburn (17-12, 8-9 SEC) as Ole Miss (19-8, 13-5 SEC) got a team-leading 14 kills from Miranda Kitts to defeat the Tigers by a score of 3-2 (25-17, 25-17, 13-25, 18-25, 15-13).

Rebels rally to come up with seventh straight win

The Rebel volleyball team dug down and found a little something extra for the second match in a row, posting a big rally as Ole Miss (16-5, 10-2 SEC) defeated Alabama (9-12, 1-10 SEC) on Sunday by a score of 3-2 (28-26, 19-25, 23-25, 25-19, 15-10).

The win is the seventh consecutive win for the Rebels who will now return home to host No. 1 Florida on Friday night at 7 p.m. The Gators hold down the top spot in the Southeastern Conference, while Ole Miss is in second place in the overall standings.

Craven credits team chemistry for recent volleyball success

 

After going 4-0 during a two-weekend homestand that included wins over Southeastern Conference opponents Auburn, Georgia, LSU and Arkansas, the Ole Miss volleyball team (14-5, 8-2 SEC) has already matched its win total from last year when the team went 10-20 overall and 4-16 in the conference.

Volleyball hits the road for Tennessee and Kentucky

The Ole Miss Rebel volleyball team will be on the road again this weekend. They travel to Knoxville to take on No. 23 Tennessee and then to Lexington to play Kentucky.

Regina Thomas and Miranda Kitts led the way for the Rebels on Sunday, but it wasn’t enough as Ole Miss (9-4, 3-1 SEC) suffered the first conference loss of the season at No. 3 Florida (10-1, 3-0 SEC) by a score of 3-0 (18-25, 19-25, 19-25).

The Ole Miss Rebel volleyball team defeated Southeastern Conference Western Division rival Alabama in straight sets by a score of 3-0 (30-28, 25-22, 25-23) to open SEC play Friday night at the Gillom Sports Center.

Craven remains humble

Sophomore volleyball player Whitney Craven took a moment to remember just how many times she’d been on the All-American and All-tournament teams.

She laughed as she tried to count them all up. The final tally was eight years on All-American and four times on All-tournament teams.
